Role and Responsibilities:
As the Colovore Data Center Design Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for driving the organization's liquid cooling design and standards. As the SME you will provide mechanical design directives, requirements, and strategy to our 3rd party partners. This role will be cross functional with other engineering practices and requires an expert understanding of data center design and technologies. As the Data Center Design Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the design standards and the equipment selection and coordination of Chillers, Pumps, Thermal Storage, CRAHs, CRACS, AHUs, and their Sequence of operations.
- Responsible for the review and approval of a well-coordinated Basis of Design derived from the Owner Project Requirements
- Be the Owner Subject Matter Expert and representative on mechanical systems throughout the design process
- Provide expert level technical review of all mechanical and plumbing submittals
- Establish, review, and provide updates to mechanical book specifications
- Establish, review, and provide updates to design standards
- Aid in the establishment, review, and provide updates to Owner Project Requirements
- Work with counterparts to establish and improve system sequence of operations
- Assist in the development of "Test Fits" for site/property acquisitions
- Aid with diligence reviews
- Remain up to date on emerging data center cooling technologies
- Provide Cx support and expert level technical review of Cx testing plans
- Provide support and review of CFD modeling
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on design, testing, tends, and industry technologies
- Provide SME support to site/facility operations teams
- Provide preliminary design and calculations supporting sales/sales engineering teams on our custom liquid cooling solutions. Perform transition to a Design-Build partner for execution.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of data center design and documentation experience
- 5+ years of experience with 2D and/or 3D CAD software
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Familiar with all relevant building codes and industry standards
- Certified Professional Engineer Preferred
